M-Pesa is the Kenyan payment system. The casino cashier still wants a coin.

In the quarter to September 2025, Safaricom's M-Pesa held 89.7% of mobile-money subscriptions and Airtel Money 10.3%, the first time Airtel sat in double digits and the first time M-Pesa printed under 90%. The Star reported those Communications Authority figures on 10 December 2025. A June 2025 CA quarter still had T-Kash at zero. Cards and PayPal are the thin end. A crypto casino does not take the M-Pesa. You buy USDT, then you send USDT.

Two wallets, one country

Three years before that September reading, M-Pesa was still around 97% and Airtel Money around 3%. The shift is real and it is still a duopoly. Almost every shilling a person moves on a phone starts in one of those two apps. PesaLink is the banks' instant transfer between accounts. It matters for bank-to-bank. It is not what a betting cashier or a market stall asks for first.

Airtel's pitch has been price and agents. That does not make it the default. If your money already sits on M-Pesa, switching wallets to save a few shillings on one transfer is a hobby, not a deposit plan. If your money sits on Airtel Money, use that. The casino will not see either balance.

M-Pesa, pros and cons

Pros. It is the account people already have. A send to a till or a phone number is the gesture the country understands. Licensed bookmakers in Kenya take it because their customers have it, and because the payout can return to the same number. Float is available at agents when the bank branch is not.

Cons. The fee is on the Safaricom tariff, and it changes. A wrong number is a support ticket, not an undo button, once the other side has withdrawn. Limits sit on the SIM registration and on the account tier. M-Pesa is also not private from Safaricom, and a bookmaker till shows up as a bookmaker till.

The 5% excise is a different line from the transfer fee. Kenya charges it on amounts deposited for betting or gambling. The Finance Act 2025 cut the rate from 15% and moved the base onto the deposit. The Finance Act 2026 widened what counts as a deposit. That whole argument is on the excise page. Do not let a payment guide restate it from memory and drift.

Whale.io does not have an M-Pesa till. The Whale note is about the crypto cashier. Sending M-Pesa "to Whale" by picking a random till from a Telegram chat is how people lose the float.

What is not the habit

T-Kash, from Telkom, showed as about zero of mobile-money subscriptions in the June 2025 CA quarter reported by Kenyan Wall Street. A page that lists T-Kash next to M-Pesa as if they were peers is filling a table.

Cards exist. They are how some online shops get paid, and they are a poor match for a small betting deposit: fewer people hold one that will clear, the scheme can decline a gambling code, and the forex spread on a foreign cashier is worse than an M-Pesa fee you can read in the app.

PayPal is a withdrawal story for freelancers, not a deposit button on a Kenyan betting cashier. PesaLink will move money between banks. It will not appear as the green button on an offshore crypto site.

Visa and Mastercard, through Meld

A Visa or a Mastercard can pay from Kenya. The card checkout is Meld (meld.io), read 4 October 2026. Meld charges the card and the casino cashier receives the coin. The fee and any 3-D Secure step are on that screen. This page does not copy a limit out of a search summary.

A card aimed at a raw gambling merchant code is a different payment, and it often declines. The card path here is the Meld form. If that form is not on the cashier, the card path is off. Do not send the card number to a person.

A Google results page for "M-Pesa casino deposit Kenya", read 4 October 2026, is a list of Kenyan bookmakers that take an M-Pesa PayBill, plus an overview of that PayBill flow. Those bookmakers are not this cashier. This cashier still takes the coin. The list is not a ranking this site is joining.

Buy USDT with the wallet you already have

The order this site already uses: M-Pesa or Airtel Money to a marketplace that buys the coin, then the coin to a wallet you control, then the coin to the cashier on the network that cashier names. Coming back is the same chain in reverse. The casino never learns your M-Pesa PIN.

Our exchange link is Bybit, through a referral. It pays this site if you sign up there. It is not M-Pesa and it is not the casino. If Bybit will not take a Kenyan account, or will not show an M-Pesa buy, stop. The P2P safety note still applies whoever the app icon is: pay only inside the order, and walk away from a seller who wants the money sent to a different name.

A buy of crypto is not automatically the 5% betting excise. A deposit into a bookmaker is. If you buy USDT and later send it to a casino, you have done two different things, and the second one is the gambling deposit. Keep them apart in your own records.

Where the shilling disappears

Wrong network on the way out of the exchange. USDT on Tron and USDT on Ethereum are not interchangeable. The cashier address from last month is not today's address.

P2P outside the order screen. The seller asks you to "confirm on WhatsApp" and pay a personal M-Pesa name. That is the loss. Stay in the order.

Mixing the excise, the 5% withholding on some withdrawals, and the 20% withholding question. They are three different charges. The tax index is the map. This page will not pick a KRA answer the statute has not settled.
